The Illiac

The Illiac is a free, annual event in Champaign, Illinois, from the same promoters who've brought Pygmalion to town for more than twenty years, presented with the Champaign Park District. It's named for the Illiac Suite, widely known as the first piece of music composed by a computer. The Illiac started as a one-day festival in downtown Urbana in 2014 and came back after ten years, in 2024, at historic Hessel Park, with Sinfonia da Camera's first-ever outdoor performance alongside Marquis Hill and Bloco Gavião. For that return, I designed the poster, a conductor silhouetted under an evening sky between two park benches, and carried the illustration into the event website.
